Animating a single frame, prototype and multiple frames
Now, let’s dive into the written tutorial. Just follow these easy steps to learn how you can create production-ready Lottie animations in Figma easily and quickly.
Animating a single frame
Select your frame and navigate to the Export to Lottie section of our plugin. Then, click on the Export to Lottie button. It’s that simple.
You’ll also see various animation presets available for you to experiment with - perfect for you to create captivating animations according to your style.
Animating a prototype
Head to the Export to Lottie section of the plugin. Then, select the prototype flow you want to animate from the dropdown menu and it will create an instant animation!
Creating a multi-frame animation
Head to the Export to Lottie section of the plugin. Then, select all the frames you want to animate and click Export to Lottie to create your animation. You don’t even need a prototype setup!
Once you’re satisfied with your Lottie animation, you can choose to insert it as a GIF or save it to your workspace.
Inserting as GIF and saving to your workspace
- Inserting as a GIF: When inserting as a GIF, you have the option to select from three sizes: Small, Medium, or Large. You can also preview your animation to make sure it works well.
- Saving it to your workspace: To do this, just click Save to workspace. Then, choose the folder you want and save your animation.
In your workspace, you’ll see options available for you to customize your animation such as using the color palette or adjusting its speed. After customization, you’ll have the option to insert as a GIF or save it to your workspace once again.
You can also toggle with the status of your animation in your workspace, which include tags of Approved, In Progress, Needs Review, and No Status - this helps streamline your developer hand-off even better.

You can easily search for animations and customize them with the color palette, as well as change the speed.
