Our company will continue to rely on LottieFiles as a go-to solution for incorporating dynamic animations into our applications and marketing materials.

It all started with one incredible flight deal in 2013, when Scott Keyes stumbled upon an unbeatable offer from New York City to Milan. Inspired by this find, Scott's Cheap Flights, now Going, was born. Today, with over 50 dedicated team members, Going serves 2 million travelers worldwide, aiming to make travel more enriching and accessible.

As they prepare to launch their mobile app, Going is excited to utilize LottieFiles to enhance the overall user experience. Here, we catch up with Tigran Manukyan, Motion Designer at Going, to discover how they use Lottie animations to enhance their journey.

How does Going.com utilize Lottie animations?

Lottie enhances user engagement and visual appeal, elevating the overall experience for our audience. This is why for any upcoming mobile app and website landing pages, particularly on the homepage, we've integrated Lottie animations extensively.

The inspiration behind incorporating animations into our product/service actually came from observing trends in user engagement and experience. We noticed that dynamic and interactive elements tend to capture users' attention and make the overall experience more engaging. So, we wanted to leverage animations to elevate our product/service and create a more immersive user experience.

We looked at various platforms and technologies for implementing animations, and that's when we stumbled upon LottieFiles. Seeing how easily it allowed us to integrate complex animations into our projects, we knew it was the perfect fit for what we wanted to achieve.

How does Going intend to further leverage LottieFiles?

With its ease of use and extensive library of animations, LottieFiles enables us to enhance user experiences and capture audience attention in a way that traditional static content can't match. LottieFiles also makes it possible to have SVG vector animation and multiple file sizes.

Mobile

Moving forward, we plan to explore even more creative ways to utilize Lottie animations to effectively communicate our brand messages and engage with our target audience.

Are there any other design tools that help your LottieFiles journey?

I've been using After Effects to export JSON files via LottieFiles for our animations. It's been a game-changer! After Effects is super intuitive for creating all sorts of animations, from simple transitions to more complex motion graphics. And the best part? We can easily export these animations as JSON files using the plugin, which makes them compatible with Lottie.

Mobile

The JSON format that Lottie generates contains all the animation data we need, like keyframes and easing curves. It's like having a blueprint for our animations that we can easily plug into our web and mobile projects. Plus, the LottieFiles’ file sizes are pretty small compared to other formats, so it doesn't slow down our apps.

What’s your best tip for optimizing Lottie animations?

One thing I've learned is the importance of optimizing Lottie animations for performance. Keeping them lightweight and efficient really makes a difference in how smoothly they run in our apps.

Mobile

I can't stress enough how crucial it is to test Lottie animations across different platforms. We've run into compatibility issues before, so now we always make sure to test on various browsers, devices, and screen sizes.

Another valuable lesson we've learned is to collaborate closely with our designers when integrating Lottie animations. Their input helps us understand the creative vision behind the animations and ensures that they align perfectly with the overall design aesthetic of our applications.
