When we first introduced AI Prompt to Vector features on Creator, we didn’t anticipate the impact it would have or how much it would empower our users. It’s thrilling to see the tools not only helping you excel and enjoy your work but also solving real design challenges.

To bring these features even closer to your workflow, we've incorporated AI Prompt to Vector into our LottieFiles for Figma plugin, along with a bonus Raster to Vector tool to help you work more efficiently and creatively.

Transforming text to animation with AI Prompt to Vector on Figma

We often discuss the “blank canvas” problem. When starting any project, it's true that figuring out where to begin can be daunting. AI Prompt to Vector tackles this issue by enabling you to go from nothing to something, revolutionizing how animators and designers work.

The function is user-friendly: simply describe what you need, choose a style you like, and get a vector illustration. This feature helps you quickly jot down ideas, explore various design possibilities, and provide a basic framework for further animation.

Raster to Vector on Figma

You’ve probably encountered JPEGs, PNGs, TIFFs, and GIFs—all raster images. Rasters, or bit-mapped graphics, are composed of many small square pixels, each coded with its own color.

While raster images are widely used due to their compatibility and ease of sharing, their fixed resolutions can cause them to become pixelated or blurry when scaled up.

In contrast, vectors are made up of geometric shapes defined by mathematical equations, allowing them to scale seamlessly without losing quality. This makes vectors ideal for visuals that need to adapt to various platforms like websites and apps.

For those curious about the specifics of raster vs. vector in animations, our comparison of Lottie vs Raster animations might be an insightful read.

Vectors are particularly useful in Figma designs as you can manipulate and edit layers to your preference while maintaining beautifully organized layers.

Now, with Raster to Vector available on Figma, you can easily convert visuals like logos, images, or hand-drawn sketches into vectors to get started—eliminating the need for manual tracing.

To convert your raster image to a vector:

  • Open the LottieFiles plugin
  • Go to the Tools panel and select Raster to Vector
  • Choose the image you want to convert, either by:
  • Selecting an image layer within your Figma design file, or
  • Browsing through the images on your device.
  • Convert your animation accordingly.

Transforming your newly ready vectors into Lottie animations

With both AI Prompt to Vector and Raster to Vector, you have options to animate using presets or insert them as an SVG into your Figma file.

Depending on your vector illustrations, inserting them as an SVG might be the best option, allowing you the flexibility to further edit the design. These edited files can be animated using Figma to Lottie features by stitching multiple frames together. To take it one step further, you can also create more complex Lottie animations using Figma’s multi-variant components.
