For Albanian motion designer Eugene Ademi—or motioneugene, as he’s known online—creativity runs deep in his bloodline. His grandparents were artists. So was his father. Naturally, Eugene followed suit, and his world was sharpened by the generation of art. However, his journey into the world of motion design wasn’t just about fulfilling a family tradition—it redefined it and chasing curiosity.

“In my family, for generations, all the grandparents, up to my father, had studied art. How could I be different?”

As a child, Eugene was captivated by the power of visual storytelling. After formal art studies, he immersed himself in digital illustration and motion design, drawn to the way even simple shapes could spark emotion when brought to life.

From still frames to smooth transitions

Over a decade into his career, Eugene spent years working as design and creative direction, producing branding and motion graphics for digital platforms. Over the years, his projects increasingly called for animations that were sleek, responsive, and lightweight—especially for apps and websites. But he kept running into the same challenge of creating these animations that are web-ready, without compromising creativity.

That’s when he discovered Lottie, and everything changed.

“Lottie was the perfect combination of what I loved: vector illustration and motion graphics—packaged in a really efficient format.”

This discovery of the Lottie file type—small but mighty—opened up possibilities he hadn’t imagined before. Now fully armed to rules to motion world, Eugene began freelancing full-time, offering custom-built Lottie animations tailored to their apps, platforms, and brands to clients worldwide.

“I love projects that push me.”

Ask Eugene what keeps him going, and his answer is clear: challenges. Working with a wide range of clients—startups, tech companies, agencies—means every brief brings something new. Whether it’s designing a micro-interaction for a fintech dashboard or a playful animation for a landing page, And that’s what keeps things exciting.

“No project is the same. I always start by understanding the client’s vision and building from scratch—illustration, layers, animation. I aim to exceed what they expect. The fun part is trying to go beyond what they imagined.”

This attention to detail, paired with a deep understanding of motion principles, has helped Eugene carve out a niche as a go-to creative for slick, purposeful animations that feel both human and high-performing.

How LottieFiles streamlined his workflow

Behind the scenes, LottieFiles plays a critical role in Eugene’s creative process—from design to delivery. The platform allows him to preview animations in real-time, collaborate with teammates, organize assets by project, and keep everything optimized for performance.

“Sharing the animation with the client via a link to view it in real time. Having the ability to work with my colleagues on a single project and follow the development of the animations as a team.”

He also appreciates the flexibility of working with various formats—vector, PNG, JPG—while still exporting to clean, optimized Lottie files.

Lessons learned (and still learning)

Like many self-taught creatives, Eugene admits the early years weren’t always smooth and were full of trial and error. If there’s one thing he wishes he had back then, it’s mentorship.

“I wish I had known before that finding a guide would have helped me a lot in my early days. I had the pleasure of meeting people who inspired me to follow and learn, professionals that I learned a lot and many of their techniques made the difference."

That influence now informs how he approaches learning—and how he encourages others to grow. For Eugene, learning never stops. There’s always a better way to animate, a smarter way to layer, a fresher way to tell a story.

“Don’t give up. It takes patience, but it’s worth it.”

Eugene’s advice to others in the LottieFiles community is simple—but honest.

“The phrase 'never give up' is obvious. But it works! Don't give up, stay focused, overcome the distractions that come your way, and continue with your goal. It takes patience.”

From a small studio in Albania to projects seen around the world—one frame at a time, Eugene proves that with patience, passion, and a love for learning, motion design can take you anywhere.
